13 ON 13: FIBER ART AND WINE TASTING
October 27, 2009

13 ON 13
FRIDAY THE 13th NOVEMBER 2009
With November fast approaching it is time again for our annual fiber arts exhibition. I really wanted to do something different this year but October proved to be incredibly
Liz Enz, War on Secularismbusy and I was stricken with the flu half the month so long story short we are leaning on some old favorites from last year to make this exhibit happen.
This is not a reason to miss this show. Baltimore artist Liz Enz, and local favorite Mary Jo Scandin are just two of the very talented artists to take part again. Mary Jo never ceases to amaze me with her amazingly diverse and thoughtful work and Liz will once again ask us to think about the political with her elaborate printed fabrics.
The opening party will be held on Friday the 13th along with a wine tasting That will include 13 wines for $13.00 and or a $13.00 fee to taste all 13 of the features wines.

$50 and under!
November 26, 2008
I understand the stress of this holiday season, My husband and I were looking at our list of folks we must gift and groaned. With our tight budgets how are we going to find something special for everyone. . . Well we made a decision to buy local, it’s an easy way to give to our community. For some on our list we really thought this was going to be hard but once you start looking it’s pretty easy to find some great things from our independent businesses. While I certainly could list off other great businesses that are independent and sell works or wears from local folk (and I most certainly will be making a list for you in the next week on the Looking at Art section of the blog) let me show you a few things we have for $50 or less!
These Mini Collages by Ginnie Cappaert are only $45 each, you can buy them in singles or in sets. You can even help someone start their own art collection.
M. Weiss has those iconic dog illustrations and you can get famed ones for as little as $39.
Healing Stone bracelets are $22. Each one is made with care and with a combination of stones to enhance your life.
Great earrings anywhere from $30-$39
Wine Glass Candle holders, we have hanging ones, and table top ones, $38 or if you need the chandler it’s a little more expensive but beautiful, stop by to see it!
Silk and Devore Scarves!, weather you are looking for something warm and soft of light and flowing, we have a variety of hand dyed scarves. $40-$50
Little Things (the show)

And another month goes by, it’s newsletter time again. Now we are just that much closer to Christmas, and I’m nowhere near ready. Our first group show was great! Thanks to all who have come in this month to view our fibers show, we had a lot of first timers in the gallery. While our opening was low key we huddled in during our first snow, we had 7 of our artists show up it was great to get a chance to talk to everyone . If your kicking yourself for not making it down we still have a few of the pieces and some of the artists will be showing different pieces in next months show . . . . which brings me to little things. Our December show will have it’s opening December 5th from 5pm-9pm (that’s First Friday). But for those of you who can’t wait you can come down this weekend after you finish your turkey! Downtown is having an Open House on Saturday and we’ll be open. This show was an open call for enteries and while we have many local artists who got juried in we also have some artists from Michigan and Kansas City. Everything in this group show created works that are 12x12x12 inches or smaller and they are all priced at $200 or less! This show will be full of small treasures and miniture gems, we will be gathering things we already have that you may have overlooked, so take a break form the chirstmas music and step in from the snow come by to see the wide variety we have in small scale!
