The gallery currently has 4 employees. I wanted to learn more about the ladies I work with so I asked a few questions. . .

First up Christina our Gallery Director.

Where are you from?    I grew up in Chippewa Falls, WI.  But, I Recently moved back to WI, after 8 years, from Portland, OR so that feels more like where I came from.

What’s you favorite restaurant in Madison?    Lao Lang Xang, Great Thai Food

 What’s your second favorite spot for art in Madison?          Ma Cha Teahouse + Art Gallery, really great space, good tea, cool art.

 What is your favorite piece in the gallery?    Good question, I would be hard pressed to pick just one. It changes all the time. Right now I like Distanteater, by Bill Reid.

Where are you from?  Illinois

What’s you favorite resturant in madison?   Tie between Eno Vino and the Weary Traveler

What’s your second favorite spot for art in madison?   Electric Earth Cafe.

What is your favorite piece in the gallery?    SamSarah’s ‘Consumating 3′

Stephanie is only going to be with us through this year then she is graduating and moving to Vegas! I know she is looking for a job, let us know if you have one for her! 

Where are you from?  I am from Vernon Hills, IL.  It is a suburb of Chicago.

What’s you favorite restaurant in Madison?   I have two favorite restaurants in Madison. Bahn Thai Restaurant has wonderful curry dishes, and The Old Fashioned has offerings to interest every palette.

What’s your second favorite spot for art in Madison?   I really enjoy the atmosphere of the Ma Cha teahouse and gallery.

What is your favorite piece in the gallery?   I have two favorite pieces in the gallery.  I love SamSarah’s “LeMerge,” and Adrienne Applegate’s “Picnic.”

 

I guess that just leaves me your trusty blogger . . . My name is Emily and I’m very new to the Madison area, with less then 6 months here I’m still eagerly find my way around as well as seeking out new adventures to have.

Where are you from?  I’m from Blacksburg, VA.  It’s were I was born and after a BFA and MFA it’s where I returned, til now.

What’s you favorite restaurant in Madison?   Well since I haven’t been here too long I still have a lot of eating to do but I really love Bunky’s.  It’s and east side treasure and worth the trip.

What’s your second favorite spot for art in Madison?   Absolutely Art!  An art gallery that is so community based and packed with handmade goodies, a very unique space. Anthology is another favorite place I can see art and pick up supplies, I’m always inspired there.

What is your favorite piece in the gallery?   I would have to say anything by Bill Reid or Christina Fenner, I love them both. 

 

State Street Gallery is located in beautiful downtown Madison, Wisconsin. On State Street just one block form the Capital, we house a large 2 story gallery with local, national and international Artists.
